L'histoire de Gin�vra, dans le cinqui�me chant de l'_Arioste_, a quelque
rapport avec la fiction romanesque de cette pi�ce; plusieurs critiques,
et entre autres Pope, ont cru que le _Roland Furieux_ avait �t� la
source o� Shakspeare avait puis�. On remarque aussi dans plusieurs
anciens romans de chevalerie des �pisodes qui rappellent la calomnie
de don Juan, et la mort suppos�e d'H�ro; mais c'est dans les histoires
tragiques que Belleforest a emprunt�es � Bandello qu'on trouve la
nouvelle qui a �videmment fourni � Shakspeare l'id�e de _Beaucoup de
bruit pour rien_.
